Vol. 1 Issue 19: Dictating Your Environment

Welcome to STP Algo Trader User Blog!
Each week, we'll bring you a unique perspective from a team member or STP user, detailing how they use the platform to power their trading.
We aim to demonstrate Signal Trader Pro's many use cases for everyday investors.
If you’d like to contribute a piece, please email us at [email protected] or just let us know in the WhatsApp! group.
Even if you just have an idea for a blog, we’d love to hear it.
Now, let’s dive into our fourth issue, which was brought to you by superuser James Welch.
Hi all! James here again.
Hopefully, you’re not sick of me yet.
We're now two weeks out from "Liberation Day," and there have been some flashes of, dare I say, normalcy in the market.
While the volatility this week is still heightened, the wild swings in the indices have calmed a bit. At least for now (fingers crossed).
So, instead of rehashing the past, today I’d like to dive into how I’m moving forward.
But first, let’s start with a motivational quote to reset our minds so we can focus on trading.
The quote is contained within a video I found on X from Hustlerz Hub. You can watch it here.
Don’t be afraid to click it. It’s just an oddly named business inspiration channel. After all, you never know where you’ll discover wisdom.
Now, in case you don’t use X, I’ll paraphrase the quote from the video here:
“The same boiling water that makes an egg turn hard will make a potato soft. So, you need to dictate your environment, and don’t let the environment dictate you.”
I’m certain the gent in the video, who seems to be a teacher, is providing his twist on some old saying.
First, what an excellent teacher! Kudos to him for going the extra mile for his students.
Second, read the quote. Now pause and read it one more time.
Do you feel that? That's a knowledge bomb going off in your mind. While this quote is simple, it's also profound and very applicable to the recent market situation.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve been glued to financial news outlets trying to react to every tariff announcement, retaliation, etc. It’s really, really stressful. I feel tired.
But you know what?
I realized that I’ve been letting the environment dictate how I feel and how I’ve been trading.
ENOUGH!!!
From here on out, I’m going back to the fundamentals. From this moment forward, I will dictate my environment.
Believe it or not, we’ve just entered earnings season. The best companies in the world are about to release a plethora of new data regarding their recent performance.
It's time to focus on earnings, revenues, etc., and make investment decisions!
By now, you've probably read that Signal Trader Pro has made significant adjustments to its algorithm to adjust to the new market environment.
This process was outlined over the weekend in Issue 17 of STP Algo Trader, which you can read here.
As outlined in that post, STP is taking the following steps:
All signals require an RSI of 25.
All “Bullseye” signals will be only 14 & 15 scores
Resetting open “Bullseye” signals
So, in the same way, I'm taking back control of my trading environment, STP is also dictating its environment.
By immediately implementing the steps above, STP cuts out noisy data and refocuses the platform to provide you with only the highest-quality signals to trade.
And the adjustments are already working. Last week, STP recommended Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) as a Bullseye Signal with a 15 score.
If I had been in control of my environment on April 8th when the signal dropped, I would have invested and would have been up over 14%.
Here’s the five-day chart for AVGO:

Will the gains in Broadcom hold? I don't know, and neither does anyone else.
What I do know, though, is that AVGO is precisely the kind of top-quality company that STP will recommend moving forward.
As for me, I will not miss out on the next signal because I dictate my environment.
So, that’s my plan. What about you?
I’m just one guy in an ocean of investors. Now that you’ve heard how I’ve been using Signal Trader Pro, we’d love to hear how you use it.
If you’d like to tell your story, please email us at [email protected] or hit us up in the WhatsApp! group.
Yours truly,
James
